  Position Information:

Position: Transportation Coordinator(TC)

We currently have an opportunity within our Operations department for a Transportation Coordinator position in our Base 2, Wilbraham office.

The TC is responsible for developing and implementing efficient routes across several school districts with specific regard to individual student needs. This position is responsible for the coordination of transportation for special needs students to schools and programs across several school districts, he/she will supervise and advise 30-60 drivers and monitors and be responsible for developing and implementing efficient routes across several districts with regard to individual student needs. The TC will make driver assignments that reflect knowledge and good judgment regarding employee skills and performance. You must be able to receive, record, retrieve and deliver messages accurately, clearly and pleasantly; routinely solve operational problems, while maintaining cordial, professional relations with parents, school administration, classroom staff and all Company employees as well as maintain and reinforce compliance with Company policies through dispatch and direct observation; and develop driver skills through discussion and example. The TC will promote good performance through positive support and recommend reassignment or appropriate discipline for non-compliance with Company rules or standards and spend sufficient time behind the wheel to know the routes, the students, the drivers and the schools; he/she will observe and supervise drivers in action, provide emergency back-up for absent drivers. You will build and maintain a positive relationship with those you supervise; understand and address the challenges they face and develop and maintain a professional rapport with all of our customers which includes but not limited to; school districts, parents, special needs students (ages 3-22), and classroom staff.

Objectives:

  • Must understand the routes, distances, and travel times in the districts we serve.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions and exercise discretion.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the programs, students and employees sufficiently to determine appropriate combinations.
  • Perform initial contact and subsequent follow up with guardians and school officials to gather and maintain accurate information on students.
  • Perform data entry functions to update student cards, produce route assignments, and enter messages accurately.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the issues that our drivers face to promote growth and success.
  • Provide accurate billing counts at the close of each month.
  • Track vehicles for inventory and arrange for maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain high quality of customer service while ensuring accuracy.
  • Must be able to show “grace under pressure.”

Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent customer service skills, be detail oriented, and like solving problems.
  • Learn the programs, students and employees sufficiently to determine appropriate assignments.
  • Maintain a good driving record and enjoy working with children.
  • Maintain a very high standard of accuracy.
  • Exhibit good computer skills; experience with Word and Excel.
  • Must maintain a 7D license and respond to coverage needs as required.
  • Must be able to work comfortably in a busy office environment.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable with ever changing assignments.

Job Duties:
 
1. Ensure safe & efficient transportation of students with special needs in the age range of 3 to 22 years
   
2. Obtain/Maintain a valid 7-D license. We will help you to get your 7-D license
